    Hi All

    What would have caused a die off in my sump. Last night when i got home i checked my sump noticed everything in the one chamber was dead(Last checked was monday night).

    My sump has 3 chambers inlet chamber, DBS and return chamber. Everything that died was in the inlet chamber Peacock shrimp and 4 Hermit crabs (hermit crabs looked like they climber out of their shells). The hermit crabs in the rest of the sump is fine and everything in the Display tank is 100%.

    My tank has been running for 5 months now with no issues.
    My peramiters are all in check.
    NO3 =0
    Nitrites =0
    Nitrates 0.01ppm
    Salinity 1.025

    ANy ideas?

    they can climb the glass as the water level sits about 5cm above the partitions.

    Is the inlet chamber full of tiny air bubbles from your skimmer or overflow?

    How long had they been in that chamber?

    What is the temperature of your tank?

    Is everything else in the tank ok, have you got fish, corals etc.?

    Seeing as they are only crabs and a shrimp it is possible that they have just molted and you haven't noticed?

    Very strange, only other thing I can think of is if they have been in that chamber for a while then possibly they have died from starvation, they could be moving between chambers looking for food. I don't know, strange one.
