what types of lighting do you use in a reef aquarium??????????

    Hey guys i was wondering if any 1 can tell me whats the best lighting options to go for? I already have my whites and a metal halide 250w was wondering what i can use as a moon light and to bring out more of the corals and colours in the tank???:razz: i have a 950 x 670x 750 system please if any 1 can help me?

    I reckon 2 or 3 blue t5 tubes will do the trick hey.

    To bring out the best in your corals, use a Mh 250w (for the tank depth, but to bring out some funky colours, use a pure blue actinic before and after your mh lights. (i.e. switch the actinics on for an hour bofore your mh are on and leave the on fro an hour after the mh are off.)

    is that what i can use as a moon light?
    and another thing i want to ask is where can i find a ph and a digital temp controller?

    where can i find pure blue actinic bulbs?
    Bloem isint the best place if you want something for your reef system

    No Renanchen - moonlights are VERY VERY low wattage (usually blue) lights. I have found that blue LED's seems to work the best.

    Have a look at ScubaNinja's thread - you will see his LED moonlights he has made!
