    Hi folks,

Hope you all had a lovely Easter!

Over the past month or so I've noticed a large increase in the number of snails that are cruising around in my tank. The interesting thing is that the larger snails in my tank are nothing like these guys so I have no idea where they came from unless they can breed from incredibly young.

I'm hoping someone can ID them for me please.

@459b Interesting, my big ones are meant to be turbo snails but they are more brown/black then they are striped patterned like these guys. Perhaps the colouring of the babies is just different. Amazed at how many there are, someone said the turbo's wouldn't breed easily, guess they were wrong cos I have about 30 odd!

It is rare for them to successfully reproduce, but not unheard of. The young are usually a lot more striped than the adults.
You are lucky to have them spawn, mine seem to become hermit fodder before getting a chance to even think of doing that

@459b Thank you for sharing your insight, I appreciate it. Hopefully they'll grow quickly and eat the algae in my tank :D I'll probably have to give a few away!

I hope its not sundial snails as they eat zoas. Im leaning more toward Collonista snail.

@Clowning Well, my zoas appear to be alright so thus far I don't have a reason to be concerned. I don't think they're Collonista snail's, I did a Google Image search and mine don't look quite like that, although it's not a bad guess from your side as they look similar. I found a lot of matching images for "baby turbo snails" so I think that's what they are.

I've got a huge amount of these snails too (hundreds)! Not sure where they came from (don't look like turbo snails to me)
I haven't done anything with them as they are small and only come out at night. If they are bad for the tank, i'm not sure how i'd get rid of them either cause they are nowhere to be seen during the day and when the lights are on

@ryana I Googled "baby turbo snails" and the images that appeared looked very much like mine. My corals appear alright though so they're not doing anything to the corals at least. I know what you mean though, getting rid of them will be tricky!
