The main difficulty of feeding goldies isn't what you feed it but how much. They are very active fish and need several feedings a day and not the normal feeding routine.

Mysis shrimp is the best food for these creatures. Feed 3 x times a day.

I started mine on red plancton and Omega One First Flake. Mysis and brine shrimp are also good to get them going and sustain them. Now mine eat just about any food I feed them

mine eat anything i feed now, which is mainly omega one supplemented with frozen brine and mysis shrimp. As warr says you need to feed them three times a day small amounts each time. the best is a auto feeder once you have them feeding well. Its not so much due to the activity of the fish but the fact that they have a very short digestive tract and thus need to feed small amounts often.

to start off newly caught Anthia's i almost always hatch brine shrimp and feed the larvae. at the same time i introduce other food sources (flakes or frozen foods) and slowly wean them off live onto flakes or frozen

Used to buy frozen mixed sea food - shrimp, calamari, hake, mussel, squid.
Chop it into fine pieces. Goldies went crazy for it.

Well, you caught them in the sea, and their natural food is also in the sea... It is important to give them multiple feedings during the day - the more, the better. It is also important to vary their diet, so feed flakes, pellets, frozen krill, bloodworm, brine shrimp, etc. It would be GREAT if you could treat them on real live food (plankton) over the weekends, if you could catch some - do a Google search for "plankton nets" to get a general idea, and then make your own, down-scaled version to use in rock pools. You can also breed live brine shrimp (artemia) and allow them to grow out for a week or two, feeding then (the shrimp...) phytoplankton which you can also grow at home.

These are really beautiful fish, and well worth the extra effort required to keep them healthy long-term.

The best thing I've found by far is fish roe. Also cheap if you get it from a fish monger. Goldies go crazy. Good nutricious grub, each egg has to be able to make a new fish, so mus have a good balance of ingredients.

Its great for picky eaters, to get them going.
