What the hell is this????

    HI just looked at my tank and saw all this floating the surface of the water!!

    It is green, could it be dead algae??? Why would it die???

    HELP!! :confused1:

    I really worried cuz if algae dies wont the snail and the star die too???

    I thought it could be eggs but its to thin and flat???

    Algae wont die off completely, there is almost always a patch here and there.

    Isn't it a type of algea that do not attach them self to something. Did you add any new stuff to the tank.

    A water parameter check could tell you what's happening.

    I added live stock on sunday but the ammonia/nitite was down by tuesday...so I dont know what it could be

    If that stuff was floating on your surface, then your overflow is not correct. Or not efficient. Or placements of pumps preventing the overflow to work correctly.

    I am with Riaan on this one, had same problem back in the day when I started, you might have protein on the surface too, make sure you have flow on the top of tank and that the over flow skims of the top layer of the water and that your skimmer is working, should take it away if all of this is functioning correctly, maybe send us a pic of the over flow and we can help?
