I have ordered my new tank and am getting my stand made up at the moment.
    The tank is 1.8m x .7 wide and.65 high, the sump is 100 x .5 x .5.
The decision I am now faced with is what skimmer should I get. I currently have a Aqua Medic Turboflotor Multi SL and am thinking of getting a AM Turboflotor Blue 3000. Any one used these before?
The other alternative is the Reef Octo 5000 Bubble Blaster (secondhand). The only thing that puts me off is the size - uses up a lot of space in the sump, headroom needed under the tank and I believe a mission to get out of the sump to clean. I need to make a decision on the skimmer soon so your advice would be appreciated. :)

The bubble blaster is an amazing skimmer, you can ask anyone. If there is a will there's a way, so any obstacle can be overcome, just my 2c:)

Either the BB skimmers. I have an internal 3000 rated for 1200 litres and I'm very happy.

dude there is no aqua medic skimmer on the market that can compare to the bubble blaster. its worth evvery bit of space that it takes up Plus u have a large tank and the bubble blaster 5000 would be perfect.

Check out the Skimz also they are extremely efficient and have a small footprint.

I assume that skimmers are a case of diminishing returns. No doubt for R8000 you get some serious skimming.
That said, if your interested, I'm selling a 6 month old TurboFloater Blue 3000 for R2000.

I like its compactness, silence, easy of installation and adjustment.
That said, I'm probably going to invest in a bigger AM model for my heavy bioload 1100L softy system.
