    Is it a local (red sea) species? - perhaps better photo?

    This fish is definitely family of the bristletooth tangs. Bristletooth tangs are generically plant / algae eaters.... but can adapt and learn to eat flakes/pellets.

    They can be very territorial, especially with fish with the same body shape.....

    we know them as pencil surgeons down here.. they grow fairly large. our local aquarium kept one for 17 years it must have been in the 2 -3 kg region (no lie it was obese) died due to a power failure as a result of the fire they had there 2 years ago

    Hi bra if its got grey to blue on its body its a Lieutenant tang easy to keep and a tuffy

    I have seen a pencil tang owned by a reefer here that is about 35cm in length and still growing!!
