    Hi Reefers

    I need your advice please.

I know that everyone have their preferred reef salt they use. BUT I must decide between one of these 3 to use in Pet Stop SA for our pre-mixed REEF SALT.

    What do you suggest?

MicrobeLift of course! 25kg bucket mixes 757L at 1025 every time due to the fact that it is a synthetic (guaranteed parameters) salt and not an evaporated salt....

I am using microbe-lift. It's both economical and I get great results with it.

I think the real question that needs to be asked here really is, what is the cost per liter with the 3?

It is a tough decision to make.
There are 2 sides in my opinion:

Personal user preference and best value for money.

Why not have 2 options for your customers?
    Pro and budget solution.

A lot depends on what "salinity" PPT the salt mix is mixed to and what the Aquariusts wants. Some salts mix to SG 1.023@20c and give a high yield because they are loaded with Ca. That means that the salinity is low. Others give a balanced mix mixed to 1.026@20c. But the yield is less.

To compare salts one should compare in a few ways.
    Yield at 35.5 PPT
Yield at brand recommendation PPT or SG
Yield at average customer demand PPT or SG

Now one also has to take into account the mix parameters at the above Salinity's.

This Leeds to a myriad of options and possible arguments.

    Interesting debate ....

The cost per litre is within R0-18 per liter - with Microbe-lift on the expensive side and RED SEA REEF at the lower end. This is for shop use and applicable discounts have been taken into account.

When it come to retail (pre-mixed) marine water and bulk buying this cost difference increase to R0-31 per liter. But is Microbe-lift that much better to keep on using it or can RED SEA REEF stand up and be accountable or go the middle way and use Aqua-medic that are closer to RED SEA in cost than Microbe-lift?

Personally I am between keep on going with what worked up to now = Microbe-lift and increasing my retail prices to compensate for the increased input cost
    OR
Start to Use RED SEA REEF OR AQUA-MEDIC and keep prices in check.
