what macro algae is this?

    Had a few strands of this stuff that came in as a hitch hiker, grows really fast.

    It looks like it could be some type of Gracilaria.
    Do you have a pic of how its attached to the liverock?

    Yup it could also be Gracilaria

    thanks for the link NJ.

    sort of hooks itself onto substrate, but also free floats

    judging from some of the descriptions, seems close to Acanthophora spicifera (spiny seaweed)
