Help guys!!!! I need something that kills or eats exclusively star-polyps. They're the worst things to have in your tank. They overrun everything and sting sps, often initiating stn. I'm trying to control their spread by scraping them off the rocks, but am losing the battle. My tank is no longer at a stage where I can simply remove rocks to scrub or cook them.

I am looking for a cure for them myself as mine are out of control (them and my pulsing xenia) and only mm's away from my Acropora Tenius :(

I will let you know if I find anything that helps if you in turn inform me ;)

    good luck though.

Guys, I too have had some problems with some star pollops.

What I do to get rid of them is simply mix up a strong solution of KALK. Use about 5-10ml of RO or tank water and mix this with about 1 teaspoon of Calcium Hydroxide( Kalk). It should be like thin porrage. Add more water if needed. Switch off all pumps and using a syringe, dribble the mixture over the pollops, and anything else you need to get rid of. It will look like it has been snowing in the tank!
Leave this for about an hour and then you can switch everything back on again.
The calcium will actually burn everything that you dribbled it on and in a few days......all gone.

It is the same as using Joe's Juice!
Try a little at a time as it will push up your PH.
This also works well with aptaisia.

I was just about to suggest Kalk,

I see in my tank that purple mushrooms stings are more powerful than gsp's

I dunno how you would implement that though.....

My Jumping Bean also pecks away at the Star Polyps, especially if I cut back on its feeding.

That's the problem Warren, the polyps that are causing problems are touching up against other corals. So I'd be causing too much collateral damage.
