looks like cyno bacteria to me, all part of the cycle, a messy looking thing but it will correct itself I am sure:) just shows you have a little way to go still with the cycle

Don't worry about that, it's part of the cycle and should go away later on. It's only week two now - be patient. Looks like diatoms.

best way to be with LR, especially when space is so limitted as in a nano:) looking real nice there though. When you get more LR, try move the bio rock closer together and bridge over it with the lr, will make a nive cave and it looks like the left hand piece of bio has some nice structural shapes to it, very cool:)

brett if its worth anything i simply loved the cycle period in my tank. if i were you get some more LR (will take you 30mins as you might need 4:)) and add it in, get a greater diversity in there and its great to come home and see what new life forms can be found in your tank.

you'll get a few nasties like aptasia or bubble algae etc, but dont stress about that too much, ofetn you get some great freebies too.

marine tanks take a long time to get going but its fun all the way:)

never forget, "dont rush it, you'll crash it!"

i will defintely be getting more LR asap. and talking about freebies. those 2 pieces of rock came with alot life forms in it. i have no idea what they are but im trying to get pics of them to post. they mostly come out at night and are hard to get good pics of but im trying. do you know of a good page or site that has pictures and descriptions of these sort of things?

ok thats a start :) the t8's arent great to be honest, did they come with the tank? what wattage are they? T5's give far better results:)

You really need to research hard with a nano as to what you want in there, space is at a premium. a Year and a bit into marines and i dare not try a nano yet, they really are for more experienced guys than me, if you ask my opinion:yeahdude: but many people keep them well as first tanks and you have the whole of masa behind you now:)

oh those things!! :) iv got lots of those! i look at my tank everynight for quite a while:) even added a moon light:) was wondering what they were. there was one on the glass the other night.

the t8's came with the tank and are both 20w one white and one blue. i got the tank 2nd hand for almost free. iv heard from others aswell that t8's arnt great. i will be changing to T5's asap. will 2 T5's do? one blue and one white?

but yea, i have been doing quite a bit of research and still doing more:) before i bought the tank i did some and came to the conclusion that they are more difficult to keep and when something goes wrong, it goes badly wrong as there is no room for error. but i was up for the challenge:) and im glad i took it!

the next 2 pictures are shell like things that open and close. mostly open at night and sometimes during the day.

this one is open right now.

the purple feeler things some retract into that tube but are mostly out waving in the current
    [IMG]

this is the best picture a could get. there are a few of these. they look like tiny trees that wave in the current.

that is the best desc i could give of those. lol
