    Hi,

    I would like to know what is the best product to increase Magnesium and Alkalinity?

    My Mag is currently 1170 and Alk 6.4.

    All other parameters are ok.

    Should I increase Magnesium only and thereafter the Alk? or can I increase both simultaneously?

    I want to maintain my Alk at 10 (I do not have SPS in my tank) or do you think that I should maintain it at around 8 in case I add some SPS in the near future?

    Increase your magnesium first and then adjust your alkalinity.

    Or if you want to go for the cheaper diy option you can use Epsom Salts for Magnesium and Baking Soda for Alkalinity. :)

    @Viper

    Please outline the procedure to be followed if I go the Epsom salts and Baking soda route.

    I have a RSM 250 tank.

    Here you go, read the second post in this thread, very nicely explained and easy to understand. Chemical equivalents - Marine Aquariums South Africa

    p.s. Increase both parameters slowly, over the course of a few days, don't push them up all at once.
