What design flaw do you have? Or what you should have done a bit differently when you build the system up. That thing that you did not think about, did not know, did not expect the impact. But now that your system is up, its very difficult or impossible to change.

Anything, name it, and give the reason why you see it as a design flaw. And admitting your mistakes is not a shame.

    I'll start.

Having a slimline overflow under a euro brace in the center back of the tank.

Snail got stuck, no way to get the shell out. Made a lot of noise and forced me to run the water level very high in the overflow using a ballvalve. Not leaving a lot of room for adjustments. Extremely difficult to set that ballvalve just right.

@RiaanP I have the same problem!

Slimline overflow under euro brace! (luckily no snail..... Yet)
Noise problem to running a higher water level now, this greating another problem.... Sump is to small now wen power goes out! So ideally I would like to fix that and Install and emergency overflow!

And Then you thought you had everything covered in your design.......!!! LOL!!

I had my corner unit custom made by one of the sponsors on this forum for a heafty price. The problem is the overflow is so bloody noisy and its in my lounge. So if I could change that I would love too.

I want a inconspicuous valve put in the sump to allow easy draining and cleaning of the filter compartments...
switch off system sponge out sump and open valve , once empty close valve fill sump and switch on system.

Coast to coast overflow on the inside, really annoying as it blocks light and takes up valuable real estate. would rather have it outside the tank.

    Bigger tank :p

On a the serious side, would have designed my LED unit different. The light is to centralised and the corals are growing towards it, adding a somewhat skew look to it...

Corner overflow that gets in the way of proper flow and is pretty noisy

Sump too long, leaving little room for additional equipment such as dosing pumps, reactors ect. Also little room for food, supplements and the like. Stand is too low, would have rather had it another 10 -15cm higher for easier sump access and maintenance. And While we at it, a R.O reservoir built into sump.

Having Arms that are too short to get to the bottom of the tank..... oh wait thats design considerations for a higher power... Perhaps then it would be to have a 750-800mm height and no more.

Another thing I would love to have done differently is related to design, is the design of my Aquascape. I would like to have built the aquascape dry in the tank. Patience has never been my strong point.

But out of these two issues, I would say dry scaping is my number 1 change request.

Something I learnt with last weeks 4 day power cut was to have a siphon break in the return pump line.Luckily I could fix it and I think it's crucial to have this to prevent your system draining through your sump when the returnline is below water level.

Haven't started my tank yet so wanted to know how to fix it, apart from removing the Euro Brace...
Will overflow comb only be fine?

Bracing needs to be a modern euro design with thinner rim and only one middle strap; Not two as it is now.
