    Hi All.

The last few water changes I have done my skimmer has been going crazy for a day or two afterwards. It fills up in an hour or two and slowly calms down over a few days untill I do the next water changed and then it goes mad again.
I am not adding anything unusuall or differnent to what I normally do and I am not cleaning the pump or any other parts of the skimmer besides the cup.
Nothing in the tank looks like it is stressed in any way.
Any Ideas on what could be causing this?

Are you using seawater or mixing your own?

During the water change are you using filter floss to clean any equipment?

Where do you throw the new water in? In the display or sump? Could be that you chase up a lot of settlement, even minute small parts, in that process.

But skimmer would settle back to normal performance a lot faster.

I do throw the water in the sump, but I have been doing that for a long time and never had that problem.

Im not using filter floss to clean anything, but I am changing the filter floss thats in the tank.
That makes me think, I have been using a different type of filter floss because the one I normally use wasn't in stock. Thanks.

I would say it is the filter floss, it should ideally be rinsed in RO before being added to the tank, otherwise it causes the skimmer to go berserk.

I normally rinse the sheets that I use but this one was in a closed packet so I thought it would be fine, also harder to rinse then the sheets are.
I bought some more of my usuall one on the weekend so we will see if that fixes it.

I don't want to have to do that because up until the last few weeks I have never had a problem.

Yip, that's the problem. If you don't wash your filter floss well it really causes the skimmer to go mad.
