Hi guys I just want to know what else to do to get rid of the cyano. The LFS showed me something to throw in the water but I dont know if I should do it.Any suggestions please.I dont think its from overfeeding.I feed once aday and only a few flakes. Its just the two chromis in tank and the tanks been running for 6 months now.And another thing I have some green hair algea to is there any thing that I can get to keep it undewr control like a fish or something else?

A yellow tang or foxface would get rid of hair algae.

How often do you do water changes? A nice way of removing the cyno is to suck it out with the hose when doing a water change.

Also, what are your water parameters?

Ok. Where is the cyano growing? Everywhere on only specific areas. Try blowing the rocks off with a pump or a turkey baster. You will most likely find a lot of detritus got settles in there and that is fueling the cyano. Add a filter sock to the overflow pipe leading into the sump to catch this detritus. You will have to do this a few times as all of it wont go down the overflow first time round and it will settle somewhere else. Even if the rocks look clean blow them out.

First thing is to find out what is causing the GHA and cyno. Could be lack of water changes, not enough flow, bad water quality(RO) etc. Then you can worry about what fish will clean up the GHA.

I think its alack of water changes.I do water changes once a month only. Will do more and see if it helps.Dont think its from ro because I get it from a lfs and it came recomended from other reefers but will try the water changes first

Waterchanges alone will not help in the long run. If the detritus is still in the rocks you are just diluting the pollution and not getting rid of the source of the pollution. Like I said blow the rocks out. Do this just before the waterchange so that you can get rid of the detritus while its in suspension.

I also use to use a turkey baster to blow out the detritus from between the rocks. When I had algea I did this everyday.
