    Hi guys

At the moment i have a Pentax istd camera and so far it has been fantastic for learning digital photography, and also getting to know what i like and what i dont.

the problem is that being one of the very first DSLR cameras of Pentax(only 6 MP) the settings and features are very outdated.

For example taking pictures at night i can only keep my lens open for 30 seconds(which to me is way too little)

I am aiming at upgrading and so far i really am in love with Canon camera's since i have worked with them before and know them well enough.

So anyway now that you guys have an overview of what i want i am looking for suggestions on what camera i should be getting.

Please help me choose my next camera............

I don't know what your budget is, but Nikon has just released the D3100 entry level camera which seems to have awesome features.

I just bought a Canon 550D. My first Digital SLR. Did a lot of research and discussion with guys in the photography field. Also wanted one that can do great videos. colleague at work bought one and she was impressed.

So, I got one too. got a great deal at Makro, Canon 550D Ultimate bundle, 3 lenses (incl a macro lense), 2 batteries, 16gb card, lens pen, backpack, flash, plus a coule of other items.

well look, i dont really have a budget, i kind of decide what i want and then save up for it, i am however up for second hand camera's and orms here in cape town has just launched their reseller programme, they have a few canon 1D mk11 at good prices. To me its more about having a camera that i dont have to upgrade for two years at least
    .

that 7D looks good. I am looking for full frame camera's

I have never had to open my lens that long, anything you shoot at will just blur

The only full frame canon under R30k is the 5d mkII with a nice L lens as kit lens @ R29k body only about R21k. I am also looking for a FF, the 5D mkII replacement should be coming out next year sometime, so waiting for that.

Not if the camera and subject are still. You might be going for a particular effect with the blur too.

when i take photos at night i need very long exposure, stuff like taking a photo of the city or stars or use a flashlight to paint on the photo.

Any specific reason why you want full frame? What type of photography do you mostly do?
