What Bulbs for T5 Unit

    I bought a 8*39W T5 unit. It comes with 4*10K and 4*actinic bulbs in theory i should get better light then the 150W+(2*39W) fitting it replaced. It does not seem that way. Could it be because of the bulbs in the fitting? I have 2*12k as well as 4*8800 bulbs that i could put in and take out some of the other bulbs in the unit? Which would be the best combination for growth and aesthetics?

    Z, the quality and age of the bulbs will have a huge impact. Is the unit new and what brand of bulbs does it have as well as the kelvin rating of the bulbs? I personally think there are too many blue and you could easily swap one for a white bulb. Just alternate the blue and white bulbs

    i have 6 10000k and 2 actanic's running over stock tank and it doesnt come near a mh:(

    i have it mixed with reeftek and giesman...and from the eye one cant tell the diff etween them...weired

    Cool gents its the bulbs that come with the Real inc unit. Brand new, about 5cm away from the water surface

    Yup if you bought one of those Chinese fittings the globes are CARP. On most of those fittings i open them up and chuck out the ballast because they do not drive the quality globes such as ACT or Geisemans properly and then replace the globes.

    I agree with Tony 4 or 6 x Aquablue+ and 2 pure actinics. you can change 2 of the Aquablue+ globes for 2 6500k tubes.
