    Hi everyone,

I had a look inside my tank when the lights went off last night and saw two of these weird looking snails. I couldn't get a better picture but it looks like the snail has no shell but rather hair like stuff on top. Very strange. Seems to eat algea... Please help with an ID.

If it has a thin 'half shell', more like a finger nail that covers only some of its body, and has pinkish markings on it then its probably a Stomatella as you've said. Very good cleaner to have. Have a 'few' in my tank

    looks like a cowrie
the hair like stuff is growths on his mantle that he pulls over his shell.

Go ahead, if it is a cowrie and you touch it, it will retract the mantle and expose the shell.
