It's fake, Nakoma...... Very good video editing done there by someone who was REALLY bored, and exceptionally skilled....

I know that there's some really strange and funky fish out there in our oceans. Perhaps some that we have not even seen. But believe me - if this is really a new species, all my marine books would have contained it (and I have probably around 20 fish, deep-sea fish, coral, marine aquarium fish, etc. books).... This picture has been around for a VERY VERY long time.

I think (I might be mistaken, because my memory is not so good anymore) that I have seen this pic about 2 or 3 years ago already.....

Rge fish was discovered early in the 20th century, but was never photographed with the soft part of the head intact, untill these videos.

Jaques, there is simply far too much on the net about Macropinna microstoma to dispute it I am afraid.

This does not look like a fake.

Do a google on the above name

OK - you guys got me. I just tend to question anything that seems "unbelievable". I am not one to "just believe something for the sake of believing". I have to be proven wrong ;)

Which it seems that you okes did ;)

I read somewhere that this transparent head fish is a hoax, something to do about the eyes and if you look in the video at some angles you see the mouth open and close and on others it doesn't move. Can't remember where I read that :p

But did they make the video themselves? Or was it made "on their behalf" by someone knowing all the tricks? I mean we all know how well some things can be photoshopped or video shopped? :p

I think we are far too hung up on conspiracy theories

I mean, I heard yesterday that JuJu Malema is actually a monkey, and I find that very hard to believe :)

What gets me is that why is the fish not more famous? I mean if we look at the scares 6 gill shark and the vampiro octo****, they made documentories about them. Surely something so strange and wonderful would be researched more?
All the pictures of the transparent head is the same. I don't see any others. I also checked some of the links on google and a few doesn't work and some has other pictures of the same name like this one.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist - maybe just wondering why it is kept so "silent"
