weird anemone thing?

    Ok onto the next ID I need, what the heck is this growing out of this zoa rock. There is another one elsewhere on the rock

    what does it do when you touch it?
    It doesnt look soft like an anemone..it almost appeas to be resting ontop of the zoas.

    Dave , have a look again ...seems like there is a zoa "under " its top "tentacle" (sorry my way of describing it) . That Zoa seems shrunken as as if the thingy grew from under it.

    true. I was looking at the zoa under it, it seems as though the fril has been folded over. Surely if it were stinging it, it would retract?

    Yip , that was what was spuzzling me as well.....it also seems to have a mouth of sorts..

    Well after lights out with the zoa polyps closed i can see that this thing is attached to the rock but also retracted. The zoa it is next to seems fairly unaffected in terms of being stung.

    So again what the heck lol

    It closely resembles a VERY tiny fire anemone, but I am about 99% sure it is not. The zoa's will not survice the sting of a fire anemone, but that was my first thought

    My second thought is that it might be some sort of "export quality" aiptasia...

    Haha so now i have a designer aiptasia, how lucky i am :D
