I have set up my reefTek ts1 next to my Weipro 2013 and the results are unfortunately as i expected. My Weipro is pulling out twice as much ***a as the ts1. And before anyone asks yes the ts1 is set up right. Yes the water level is where it should be and no it does not need to be run in as it is second hand. The bubbles fill the chamber properly. I believe this skimmer is overrated and people knock the Weipro even if they haven't used it or are using an underpowered pump on it. I know there are people who are gonna totally disagree but the proof is in my Sump.

I used a Weipro before and never enjoyed it and I'm not one of those brand snobs. It was my first skimmer. Also bear in mind that having two skimmers in one sump will have one working hard and the other trailing behind. Turn the weipro off and the TS1 will kick in and vice versa

    fair point there Tony.

Steve could we have a look at a comparative pic with them both running after a 24 hour or 48 hour period? Id be interested to see the results.

also are they both fed the same water and at equal rates? Although to be honest its the bubble production and contact time that I would like to get a peak at :)

    nice thread though :)

Posting from my phone. Will try to get in front of a pc and post a pic. Fair point about turning one off but with both running the better one would work better. I'm no expert but logically that makes. They are both in the same compartment.

It also depends on how the skimmers are placed(pump inlet against glass etc) and set(dry or wet), so you have to try and get the same quality skimmate(darnkess) and compare how much. So there are a lot of things involved

I tend to agree with Fishy Steve, not to say the TS1 is over-rated but think the Weipro is under-rated, I aslo have one and have used it, it works very well!

Everyone - I still have a WeiPro SA-2013 left from my pre-expensive skimmer days ;)
I have a 2200 litre and hour pump on my WeiPro - I shortened the pipe that goes into the skimmer, and am using a pond airpump to FORCE air into the WeiPro..... These mods made a HUGE HUGE difference! I am using the WeiPro as an "in-tank" skimmer in my fish only tank..... (I don't have a sump on my Jewel 300).... And I am REALLY pulling a HUGE amount of crap out of this tank. I have +-20 fish in this tank (locally collected rock-pool fish - from KZN) ;)
