Ok, so my first week of watching the tank is done, got loads of these flea looking things all over the rock, some macro looking algea and I think I have got all of the aptasia  but still on the look out for them. This morning I had this funny flat worm looking thing (i'll attch a bad pic of it at the end of my post).
Tested my water this morning and here are the results:
    PH: 8.2
    Ammonia: 0
    Nitrate: 0
    Nitrite: 0.1 - a little high :(
SG: 1.027 - too high? :nono:? - must I lower or or is it ok?
Thanks in advance for your advice
And here is the worm thing:

All looking good so far, what are you using to test the SG?
I would aim for a 1.025. the 1.027 is a bit on the high side.

congrats on getting through the first week:) and great yto hear that you ahve viable pods, they will do your tank lots of good in the next couple of months with eating algae and then becoming good food for fishes when you add them:) try let the pop breed as much as you can before adding fish so that its well established and predatory fish dont take them out later.

as allen says, that SG is a little high try bring it down to 1.025 over the next few days:)

I'm using an hydrometer (needle type) but I'm going to get the SG down.
Thanks for the advice, will begin lowering the SG nice and slow

looking good dude but if you can, get your hydrometer tested by someone with a refractometer to see how accurate it actually is

There is a plan, I think Ross might have a refractometer... I'll have to ask him if I can compare... maybe before lowering the SG...

Definitely check with a refractometer, but when I checked my hydrometer reading against a refractometer I got a higher reading on the refractometer so don't be surprised if it's even higher than you think.
