    Hey guys

I havent got my own ro unit so am forced to buy water from lfs. I dont trust that lfs and she cant give me test results for the water.

There is this one guys who can tho but he isnt very clued up on the water.he just sells it. here the parametres.

can I use it. I use nsw for water changes so only use it for top us which is about 2l a week.

    Here the parametres :
    Calcium : < 2
    Sodium < 3
Potassium as k. whatever that means
Chloride < 5. That looks high
    Sulphate (So4) < 2
    Alkalinity (CaCo3) <5
    Nitrate < 0.3
    TDS < 6
    Ph - 6-8
    Iron < 0.1
    Magnesium < < 0.1

    Thanks

The TDS reaing should be ZERO !

Otherwise over time you'll start getting algae problems.Thats why we use RO water instead of normal tap water.

TDS doesn't need to 0, and by now way does it mean that you won't have algae problems when its 0.

0 is always ideal and the best, but a TDS of <5 is more than acceptable.

would you rather use the one where you know what the tds is or should I just take the word of my lfs. I have been ripped off by them in the past thats why Im hesitant to keep using the water from her. I have been struggling a bit with algae. Im keen to invest in my own ro unit but will have to buy ro untill saved up enough money

That is a very low TDS, if you got no other option, then this is your solution.
What size tank do you have. It could be worthwhile in the long run to invest in your own RO unit. Then you buy your salt as well and mix your own water changes. It does work out cheaper at the end of the year. (obviously depending on volume of your water change)

ask your lfs if they have a TDS meter. If they do, let them put some water in a glass and let them test it. It will not take more than a minute.

If there's a business in your area that sells purified bottled water like Aqua H2O here by us, take a litre from your LFS and take it to them. They will test for free.
