Hey Guys, just need advice on something. I bought intially 1 year ago my water changing containers and RO Storage JOJO Tank. I know might seem pedantic, but one thing i like to do is have 0tds for my water, which i do get and only changing filters every 9 months, resin 6 months and membrane i know lasts about 1 year and a half or 2.
So this weekend gone i checked the tds inside the jojo tank and was 0, perfect, but oddly when i emptied it into my water mixing bins, which i got from MS Plastics the blue ones, my 50litre drum gave me 5ppm and 25litre gave me 2ppm. What could be to blame, bare in mind i do rinse them out with ro water before filling them. Nothing else goes in these bins except newly mixed saltwater or the changed water which was syphoned out and then bucket washed again in ro water, Is it just time to change mixing bins. If so which ones are best. Thanks in advance

Salt residue inside the drum, even though you might have rinsed it. I am sure you can't get all of the salt out.

Thanks Carlos, makes sense. Now i know we all would like that 0tds reading , so does the salt residue going to cause problems or have no impact. Just seems if i am going through all the trouble trying to achieve 0 and then water becomes 5ppm in mixing bucket, should i change it out

Do bins have an expiry date? Could it not be the coloured bins leaching something?

Tanks fine, don't really have issues with high nitrates and phosphates 0 , and all livestock are happy, but hey my fish and coral get the best treatment 0tds is only acceptable in my eyes. So might just change them out

It is just salt leftovers from previous mixes. No impact.
It is not leftovers from other chemicals that should not be in the drums.
