    Just getting everyone's opinions here.
I do a 50l water change on a 500l system every week. Salt being used is red sea coral pro, additional to this I dose vibrance, fuel and ions when needed.:m106:

Depends, I never did water changes running bio cubes, however running DSB I did monthly water changes about 25% of total system volume...

What is your current levels on PO3 en NO3? Do you use supplements like Ca & Mag? What corals do you have?

My ca and mag are a bit low.. was using sera salt.
Currently ca 370 and mag 1230.
    No3 and Po4 virtually 0.
Dosing seachem calcium powder to raise ca to around 420, got a mix of softies and some sps frags.

as a newbie, doing 10% per week is good. As you get more experiences, and you can see the condition of your tank you might slow that down.

Also, with experience you learn how to keep things more stable.

But there is a trade off point, between the cost of all the dosing minerals and mixing salt. I do believe in water changes, pity I'm not keeping to the regime myself. Call it laziness or busy schedule. I do have a stable tank and no phosphates. But then again, I'm sure I would be running out of some mineral that whatever needs. Time to do my next waterchange then.

Kh was sitting quite high think its due to the low calcium I had, was at 11.4 but since the calcium has been added its stabilized down to between 9.4 and 10.6 on my prev two tests,
I'm testing more often at the moment to get calcium stable all in slow progression, no I'll sides on any coral or fish just want to get to the best growing parameters.

it all depend on your ca uptake as all trace elements are depended on it, like 20 Ca you will need 1mg/l kh
and 60ppm mg, if you can keep those balance its best . also if your phosphate are so low dont run a high kh 3mg/l is max for skeletogenesis. if you run a high nutrients say 0.1PO4 and .6NO3 then you can use that salt better as its desine for high nutr and not low nutr( coral pro salt) also dont use other brands with it like ceachem other wise there can be a build up off trace elements like potasuim. my problem with salt brands is there inconsistency with there mikro and makro trace elements. i myself do water changes. as its nesecery to bring balance back to a system. but i have no skimmer and no dsb and all those fancy filters. but i do dose ca,kh,mg, PO4,NO3, siligates, and some times I2
