Hi guys a quick question I'm doing a water change today. I have made 2 x 120L bins of salt water.

    My tank is 540L
    Sump is 210L

My tank is sitting on 1022
    Bin A is 1023
    Bin B is 1025

If I start with bin A , then do bin B is this to much of a swing in salinity taking into consideration the volumes of the bin or are they fine because they only 120L.

    Thanks

Hi @mala1610 I am no expert in this hobbie, but I do not see any issue in doing this?

If and when I do a Water Change, the Salinity is not always what the DT is, dependent on what the salinity of the DT is. - Example : I my DT is at 1.024, and I want to raise this to a 1.026 I will make up a batch of 1.028 or even a 1.030. - This high salinity Water Change then assist me by ensuring the DT Salinity stays constant.

Maybe @RiaanP or @dallasg can confirm the advice??

They are fine cos your tank salinity needs to go up slightly. Are all three sets of water the same temp?

Thanks @CyberSlakkie for reply only concern is if it is to much of a raise in salinity in such a short time.

Bearing in mind different temps cause different readings.

It will be fine. You will most likely end up at 1.023 after the waterchange.

add 50% water from drum 1. Then 50% from drum 2. Then back to drum 1, add the rest. Then lastly add drum 2 leftover.

For an established tank generally 10 - 20% once a month however it depends on the performance of your tank and its water parameters.
