Hi guys - old and new :p

We as mods saw that during the last month or so new threads are being started in the FOR SALE forum without pictures. This is against the rules of the forum.

Most of the adverts did not have pics, and when someone asked for them the response is "I will post on the weekend", etc.

This is unacceptable and from now on all new threads in the FOR SALE forum without pictures WILL BE DELETED after one hour without notification!

If you don't have pics yet then don't start the thread until you're ready.

Please guys, the rules are there for a reason and to make it fair for everyone.

Here is the link to the rules, please read, especially no 3

Marine Aquariums of South Africa - Announcements in Forum : Livestock For Sale/Swop

    Thanks guys :)

In full agreement there bud, it is becoming more and more common for this to be happening and frequently finding a For Sale thread started and a person's response to the requests for further information simply not being forthcoming.

Why not move this to the FOR SALE section and sticky it there ? And maybe rename to something like read before posting in for sale section and then warning threads will be deleted ?

There is a sticky/announcement in the for sale forum and the sub forums about the rules saying read before you post here, but some people did/do not read it :whistling:

I'll leave it in the general discussions for now, then at least it is shown in two places, hopefully it will be seen ;)

What about the guys that post a pic from the internet and not a pic of the actual item or even say we must pm them and then they wil email the pic.
That sounds like double the work.

No go, it will also be closed or deleted. It says very clearly in the rules, no 3, that a pic must be posted of the actual item being sold ;)

Yep, I never read it and if I have to sell something, I probably would not read it before.
There is always a nice Mod, who will tell me, if I did something wrong.

    That might be the point!

Even after this has all been said, I still see a few for sale threads without pictures that are recent and haven't been closed even after multiple warnings within the thread.

Tobes, close all threads without pictures. No mercy!
The only way to learn is when the seller has to re-write his thread.
Double work will help through the learning process.

I agree. There is no use threating to close threads when people see other threads that are open without pictures and haven't been closed, even after multiple warnings from various moderators. I wish we could implement this to people who tell us about their tank without pictures :)

Manic if you read my first post it said ''from now on'', and I only started this thread last night. I know there is a thread or two without pics.
On the one the guy didn't know how to post and I posted him the links last night. Seeing that his add was up before I made this post, I'll give him till this afternoon.
I also still need to go through the for sale forums and check it out.

Is therre no way of adjusting the For Sale Thread section specifically in a way which won't allow it to be posted without a pic within it? It will allow additional pics there after but not without at least one pic and even stil, one should be required to have a point where you would add the quantity of items which relates to the picture count, so 5 items = 5 pics.

I am not IT specialist but surely the programming shouldn't be too tough o initiate that??
