We do have some members that type in Afrikaans, but then they will not get any help from our overseas members, due to the language problems.

Is your question specifically for Hennie?

Sorry, no it is not. I just want to know ... where do you start when you want a marine tank? What do you need? What will it cost you? And so on...

I have a fresh water tank ... not as beautifull as the marine tanks .... so it's my next step ... i'm starting from scratch ... please help!

    Welkom Bonita.

    Good luck:)

Welcome to MASA Bonita, hope you enjoy your say with us.
Just take note that some of the stuff that Mr Manderin priced is secondhand as a new Reeftek TS1 costs about R1400. You can get great deals on secondhand equipment, so keep an eye on the classified listings should you prefer this route.
Please read and learn as much as you can and don't be shy to ask questions. Also remember that reefkeeping is a hobby that require lots and lots of patience - so don't rush anything.
Read through my signature as there is some good info for beginners ;)

    Enjoy it :wave2:

    hi bonita:)
welcome to MASA very nice to have you here. there really is a HUGE amount to learn but you will love the journey, its a facinating hobby and very adictive:)

unfortuantley most of us post in englsih, so if you have a passable understanding in English try stay in that language as you will get far more responce and help (as warr says, double posting can put some people off) although some guys are brilliant at taking the time to do it in both languages.

Please do read alot before you look at buying anything, and better off double check with us here. We are all passionate about marines and love to see fellow reefers doing well, so our advice is free, honest (brutal at times) but free of finacial misguided self endulgments. IE ask us, we can and will help lots :)

    PS
will a mod move the thread :)

    Firstly welcome bonita!!! :1:

You will not find better advise anywhere than on this site... And on what Andreas said:

Trust me, ek het daai fout gemaak - cause I did not do my research!!!

So, as you've seen, the general rule is BE PATIENT!! Please do not go into a petshop and just buy the most beautiful thing you see just cause it looks nice... Do not think that Nemo and his anemone are as wonderful as on the tele (dont get me wrong, they are!!! but only after some time to come... TRUST ME) There are no dumb questions on this site, so gooi mielies!!!

Enjoy every moment, it is an amazing hobby!!!

And a belated WELCOME from me as well - you have received some good advice from other members - let me just stress that you MUST do a serious amount of reading / research before spending any money. Once you have spent a few days of reading other posts on this Forum you are welcome to ask specific questions which you might have (in Afrikaans of Engels, ek gee nie om nie...), either on my forum, or perhaps more appropriately on the beginner's forum
