Guys i have been asked if i know if the ES driver can transfer the new functions to the old MP40w driver. does anyone know if this can be done or will some of the functions be lost..

im not too sure how many guys on here have the latest version running with the old..

please offer your input, im sure it would be beneficial to vortech owners..

No it cannot transfer all the new functions. They will sync together on all the old functions but you will have to change the driver box to the ES to take advantage of the Nutrient Export and other functions.

IT will not be able to do these 2 functions!

EcoSmart Nutrient Transport Mode (NTM) - A two phase program to promote maximum health and nutrient export, as well as increased growth for corals. Alternates between a resonant standing wave and a surge effect to stir up and export nutrients.
EcoSmart Tidal Swell Mode (TSM) - Creates a harmonic balance in your aquarium reminiscent of the changing flow conditions that would be found in nature. Flow varies from left to right, right to left, calm, and ends with a great surge

from what i can see its the nutrient export mode and the tidal surge mode that will be lost which are the only two real new additions to the controller..

all other functions are the same but i need somone actully running these pumps to comment..

Sorry, busy afternoon, Big demo, good sale, next 2 to 3 years salary is secured :).

Anyway for proper export you need 3 ot more pumps anyway.

I got the new and old together. New is the Master, old the slave. Only set the sleep mode time on master, and slave follows.

The Yellow mode, on new its called Nutrient export and on old its Reef Crest
Mode. Well it does work together. Controlling the strength from the new. It is a lot easier on new, as it got 12 blue leds and you can set the max at whatever. I got it at 3.

Other than the ease of use on new compared to the old, it is exactly the same in my opinion. The pump is anyway.

Feed mode, just push the mode for 2 seconds on any of the two, and both go into feed mode.

I do set the pumps on full flatout for 2 or 3 minutes some days, zoa's blowing in the "wind". Strange, the open brain coral LPS do extend then. Expected it to like lower flow, coming from deeper parts on the reef.

Wave, too scared to do that. Water level is 20mm from the top. and I do not want waves splashing over.

On full blast, yes the pumps do make a noise. Whining. If tank is in proper cabinet, then this should be solved. Anyway I do not think these pumps should run flatout all day. Like a car, that will shorten their livespan. Plus point, they do not transfer extra heat into the tank at all. But you can not adjust the angle.

Win some loose some, Wonder if there ever will be a perfect pump.

thanks riaan. you would think the newer drivers would be able to increase the intellegence on the old to allow them to be compatable.. pity

As far as I can see, the slave is doing what the master does. so it is following the master program.

Or maybe I should have 2 new drivers to be able to see the difference in behaviour.
