Guy's I'm looking for some info on a Violet Goby, if that's even it's name.

All the google searches I've done come up with a Dragon Goby. It's not the fish I'm looking for.

Description is:
Typical Goby looking, swims like a Midas Blenny and is violet in colour.

Any of you guy's know what it's proper name is ?

is it the one that looks similar to the fire goby?just that its violet?

hmmm, ok...

Boet, your answer lies below...:wave2:

Ecsenius lividanalis, same Genus as midas...but alot shyer, so won't REALLY be seen swimming like it..also smaller

Dependent on your level of colour-blindedness, or "maleness" in decribing ...LOL

you could well be looking for the Ecsenius midas "blue" imported into South Africa by me..

best call, confirm WHERE you saw it...I'm sure I can track it down

Mmm thanks Obi-Wan. Googled those 2 but can't find a colour match. I know Midas Blennies are known to mimic other fish too, but what is violet ?
This guy is shy.
I know where it originated from - Fresh from the Griddle.
lol, colour-blindness that's no joke, but I got the authority to to confirm for me.. Defineatly like that stuff our moms used to put on our knee's when we fell of our shopping trolly go carts - that violet stuff..

Nope that's not him.. will try and get a pic tonight.

Ok here he is. Just come out from the rocks so looking a bit pale.

These guys grow quite big not the fire goby...

Just encase anybody in JHB wants one i think i had one at Sand ton Aquatics in Fourways

Ya they jump like mad so watch even sticking your hand in the tank....

very pretty though you get ones that actually change colour as they swim pink blue green you name it they change it

Ok cool guy's, googled it and it's confirmed.

This guy doesn't seem to skittish, he almost swam up to my hand just now when I was moving a coral.
Will see how it goes.

he would have had a soft landing if you hadn't lifted your carpets and put wooden planks on your floor, now the poor little guy is doomed to a hard, cold death.
