Details are scant but we’ve just got word that Vietnam may soon begin exporting stony corals. So far we’ve only seen some soft corals, giant clams and fish species exported from Vietnam. The most notable Vietnamese marine life exports have been the teardrop maxima clams and blueline angelfish, but we might soon be seeing a whole lot more. Just the other day we were complaining about our distaste for Acan Lords following the inundation of the US market with Aussie acans but some of the first pictures of Vietnamese lord corals are making us reconsider that position.

As previously stated, we don’t know much about what stony corals abound in Vietnam but with it’s proximity to Borneo, the closest locale where stoneys have been exported for the aquarium trade, we have high hopes that if Vietnamese stony corals are exported, the LPS corals could be along the same lines of color and diversity. We’re probably still a couple weeks away from knowing if this is really real but we’ll be sure to keep you posted. One more picture of a potentially stunning Vietnamese Acanthastrea lordhowensis after the break.

These pictures of Vietnamese Acan Lords leaves something to be desired, like clarity and focus, but the pink rings in the specimen above and the black rings of the specimen below give us much room to hope for some amazing specimens.
