    Hi guys,

    I Just registered here :thumbup:

    Im planning to buy a new skimmer and ive chosen Via Aqua SK 388 considering my budget. Is it a good skimmer ? I saw Falcon's reply here under one topic and his pix were promising. Now is there any other better skimmer compared to Via Aqua SK 388 in the same price?

    @Falcon - Do u still recommend this skimmer ?

    Thanks guys
    -vick

    I was using a weipro Sk2011 skimmer for a year now. It aint working good. My nitrates went over 100 and i had to RESET my tank, yet to take pix after starting all over again. But i will upload pix soon if u want.

    My tank is 36" x 18" x 24" in dimensions

    Sump holds upto 25G

    Well I guess it all depends on what you are paying for your Via Aqua skimmer and what you intend getting out of it. Are you buying it brand new? the reason I ask is that I have seen them priced at just under a grand brandnew in shops and if this is the price you are looking at paying I would say no to the Via Aqua and rather recommend a Reeftek or ReefOcto TS2 for about R250 more and a much better skimmer. That said I have a Via Aqua skimmer on my 450Ltr Reef tank and its going like a monster but I have done extensive mods to it as standard they arent the greatest skimmers but if you dont mind a little DIY work its worth it as then its becomes much better than a TS2 IMO but if you dont see yourself doing the DIY thing then the TS2 is plug and play, just let me know if you would like the link to my skimmer mod thread

    The new 1 should be better with the Atman needle wheel pump.

    Wish i had pix gMAN.. I was actually running my tank without proper knowledge abt reef for lik about 1yr.. had to reset my tank as the nitrates went ova 100 and hair algae started taking control :( had few corals and they are with my friend now.. my tank looks too plain even without a sand bed and jus few LRs.. Im running my tank with,

    a pair of perculas

    a yellow tail blue damsel

    a banana wrasse

    im using Weipro 2011 Skimmer, wanted to upgrade it to a better one, so yeah.. this is my story :1:

    Ok here is the bad news

    I just bought another Via Aqua skimmer and plugged it inn standard and let it runn and compared to my other Via Aqua which I modified before even running the standard one is KAK like seriously kak I cannot believe how someone could actualy use this skimmer and be happy. The bubbles are the size of an average polystyrene ball and there arent many of them ether.......LOL guys by doing some simple DIY work on this skimmer is skimms like a unit 4 x the price. And before you ask no there is nothing wrong with the one I settup as standard and infact I even switched pumps which are exactly the same btw
