    Hi guys
bought 2 clowns, 2 shrimp and 2 hermit crabs from a local retailer (after testing my water with them)
They said a after a part water change that the water levels would be right
Lucky I bought some test kits
anyway long story short - half an hour after spending the R1000 on the fish and finding out that my water is not stable i phoned the shop to ask if they will please hold them for an extra week to save the fish
the response was " I have new stock coming can't babysit your fish"
    Absolutely disgusting

So - anyone able to help?
    Kev

If no one can assist then the best advice i can give you is to urgently get hold of some seachem stability. It will rapidly establish a biofilter for the tank. Just follow the directions on the bottle and you shouldn't have a problem. Continue dosing for the recommended number of days.

Just a friendly word of advice...livestock cannot be purchased together with a new tank. The tank needs to go through the nitrogen cycle first before any livestock can be added.

Kev, a lot of guys are busy / returning from the Expo so lets see if you will get a response through the day.

If you added fish before testing the water , unfortunately that was a mistake (but so you learn and the LFS should have asked you)

adding a bacterial booster (Stability , Prodibio , Special Blend etc) will definitely help in establishing a biological filtration system.

Unfortunately inverts are much more sensitive to crappy water conditions than fish.

Hope you come right...BTW dont go back to that store

Just put you livestock In a quarantine tank. Connect your protein skimmer to the tank, add some live rock and a sponge filter. Do 10% water changes 2X a week and keep the feeding to a minimal to produce less fish waste until your tank is ready.

If you don't have a protein skimmer siphon out the fish waste every day, add an air stone and a sponge filter and do 5% water changes every 2X day.

Remember you need as much surface area as possible.
Do not do huge water changes coz It will kill the beneficial bacteria.
    Test constantly for ammonia spikes.
Try to get a really BIG QT.
Oh and remember to rub the sponge filter against your filter media in your DT to get that beneficial bacteria on the sponge.

I am no expert but I do hope this helps. The principals Is correct and should work.

    Hey guys
Internet went offline as I posted this (ironic)
The amazing guys at Exotic (Boksburg) saved the day with some quick fix water treatment products

It's been 2 full days and no fatalities at all
    Appreciate the feedback
