    I need help here.
This is my tank 2&1/2 weeks ago (15/12/2014) i was struggling with bad cyano and managed to sort that out. As you can see all corals and fish are doing well. [IMG]

Later the week I started seeing some green algae build up on the windows so I added a NP Pellet reactor before the skimmer intake. Also added felt filter socks. Not two days later it started going cloudy.

I also started using 150micron nylon filter socks which I'm replacing with clean ones every other day.

I did some research and thought i might be the salt i was using ( red sea coral pro ) so i changed to the normal red sea salt and did 25% water change. Looked better but started getting worse shorty after. No luck there !!

I also came across that the fluval zeocarb (ammonia remover and carbon mix ) could also be a possibility for the cloudiness. I replaced it with aqua medic carbon in my reactor. Thought this must be it. But still nothing.

When I added three shrimp 4 weeks ago the one has never to be see so i expect he has also died. Have also not seen the six line wrasse i added about 6 weeks ago.
All my water parameters are well within the limits?

Now there is brown algae all over the floor and on the back window.

The corals are not opening and all three anthias have died.

The other thing was that i added a hammer coral, Fox Face and Blue Tang.

This is the tank right now.

Is there a possibility that it can be a algae and bacteria bloom ? If so what can i do and how long will it last ?

I have since done another 40% water change. Seem to get better but then gets worse again.

I am at a total loss.

Please help. Ive worked hard to get my tank to where it was and now this.:m30:

Where is the NP reactor outlet? That should be at the skimmer intake. The reactor can be anywhere but best is before the return pump to lessen the detritus buildup inside.

    Is the reactor slowly tumbling?

The pellets are tumbling. The reactor is in the first chamber before the skimmer chamber. Its a bubble magus reactor so no direct outlet

First thing is there is too many changes going on in your tank. The NP if not done properly will strip your tank of nutrients so quick that you will have these issue. The cloudy water is due to adding too much NP at once. I would recommend taking some out. What size is your tank? How much NP did you add?

I put put about 200ml as my system is 250l DT and +/- 40l sump total. I did read up that you need to add in stages but only afterwards so i took out about 2/3. Do you suggest to maybe turn the pellets reactor off for a while until the tank is clear again ? And start with smaller quantities ?

Do not turn the reactor off. So if you have taken out 2/3 that's fine just let the reactor run. It will clear in 3-5days. Make sure the outlet of the reactor is directly in front of the skimmer intake.

Let's first start with proper water tests.

    Salinity.
    Temp.
    pH.

    Then test
    Ammonia
    KH

Looks like you have a bacterial bloom...
Add more oxygen into the water as the bacteria takes up oxygen rapidly during a bloom.

The bloom will go away on its own. Just add an airstone to the main tank until it subsides...also stop adding and bacteria additives for now...

That if you have a bacterial bloom..post a pic?

So the SG (specific graverty ) is 1.026 at 25c. That is cool.

The ammonia is from diatom die off. (Diatom is the brown algae)
Diatom is normally associated with new tanks and silicate. Cyanobacteria (red algae) is also associated with
    New tanks, silicate and phosphates.

Yes, from the pic you seem to have plenty Gas exchange judging from the water adgertation. Is the flow just at the top of the tank or is there lots of flow at the substrate as well?

Looking at your substrate. Are you using the Aqua Medic calcium carbonate. (Hydrocarbonate)

I started the tank with aragonite which i got from one of the sponsors but didn't like the look. Very large pieces (3 to15mm) so i covered it with a bag of no name substrate from my local pet shop. This was about 2 months ago.

The corals are looking worse and worse everyday. The cloudiness has been there for just over two weeks. How much longer before is goes away. Will be doing tests today again.

How did you sort the cyano out? Did you add anything for that, like Chemipure?

if you can detect ammonia I would immediately overdose seachem prime or safe and 7 day program of special blend or stability
