    Hi everyone
i trust everyone is having a awesome december.

i baught a tuxedo urchin the 24th and acclimatised it exactly like u would acclimatise other inverts, by dripping water into the bag. Now my problem is i didnt research urchins spesificly beforehand and didnt know u shouldnt take it out of water. So i took the urchin out of the bag with a net and put it in the tank, just like u could do with a shrimp or hermit crab.

the urchin hasnt been moving at all except for it turning in a circle.

it's a false belief that urchin can't go outside water , they can close itself . for a long time (my experience and what's i've read but to long to translate , sorry)
as for other invertebrate they're is a great number of things that can be a cause for them making it or not. but coming out of water for a short time is not the main one .

i totally agree - urchins can definately go out of the water with no ill effect. i have a few and they get moved constantly from tank to tank by netting them and taking them out the water to the other tank. hope this helps.

    give the guy some time....

Well he threw off some of his spines, i then moved him to the sump were he can be safe from my hermit crab. I saw now he has a white gelly covering wich either means that he is dying or he is healing.

i tested water params and these are them

    nitrate-3
calcium- 420- 500(not sure tested bit weird)
    alkalinity - 12dkh
    ammonia - 0

Hi Johan - this does not sound good. Take him out again and smell him - my guess is that he is already dead, and decaying. If he does not stink, then possibly leave him in the sump over night, and check again tomorrow morning.
