    Hi all

I was trying to figure out if a normal PC-type UPS will be whats needed for a marine aquarium?

Any advice? I have no clue about inverters and all that and just looking for something to keep the heaters in the tank on in case of a power outage...

    Thx

There are lots of discussions in the "Power Cuts" section on this exact subject.
Heaters will drain your UPS battery very quickly, unless you are running really big batteries ie 2 x 105Ah units. Tank temp should not drop too much over a few hours, provided the system is not outside/exposed to the elements. If someone is home, why not just float a hot water bottle in the sump.

Most important during power cuts is too keep your main filter pumps running.

Ok so rather attach a UPS to the skimmer/pump and add a hot water bottle if it comes to that

thx, but still is a normal pc UPS ready to go for this application?

As long as its a pure sine wave unit, you should be fine.
Just check its rating so you can calculate how long the system will run for.

Most PC type UPS are NOT suitable for our pumps. Like AfricaOffRoad said, unless it is a pure sine, don't waste your money!
