Howdy Guys

Finally found myself a nice MH / T5 combo for my 100L nano.
The tank is 800mm long and currently has a mix of 5 T5 on it in a DIY canopy.

I will be suspending the MH and removing the canopy.
Was thinking of starting the new unit at about 60cm above the water and slowly (say every 3 days) move it down until it is about 30cm from the surface.

Any ideas, suggestions, advice?

Ross

Sounds great.
You can even put the new light about 40 cm away from the water level and then slowly lower it until it is about 15-20cm above water level.

It is a 150 watt MH with 2 24 watt T5 combo.
Working like a charm and the tank loos so much nicer... almost more 3D if that makes more sense. Suppose that is from the shadows and ripples.

Hey Ross sorry to rain in on your thread but i am also just about ready to upgrade to 150 mh. buying it next week

Quick question for all you guys with 150watt mh.
1) how long do you keep your mh on for?
2) must you get other lights with mh ie like ross's 2 times 24 watt's
3) how have you guys suspended your MH Pics please
4) how much does running a mh system set you back every time the electricity bill
comes knocking

1) 6hr period mine is on at 10 and off at 4
2) get some actanics for colour
3)Most are done with a pendant, but ask traddles to post a pic he's done a nift piece of DIY on his nano
4)No i dea how much it kills the electric bill. work it out. 150w x 6 hrs x 30 days.

Guys, please remember MH's create loads of heat, so you may have extra costs IE: Chiller, fans etc, especially in Summer.
