    So...

    I've had my tank for about 7months now 100cm x 40cm x 40cm.
I goy it with built-on sump at the back which is only 10cm wide...could fit anything exept cotton, bio balls and normal filter media.
Everything is running like clock work but i want more fish and more everything, lol.

    I currently have:
    a Sailfin Tang
    3 x Percula Clowns
    1 x Yellow tail Damsel
    1 x Blue Damsel
(1 x African clown who is livving in breeding tank, coz other clowns want to murder it)
    1 x Turbo snail
1 x Big Pink tip anemone

    Would like extra:
    1 x Regal tang
    1 x Foxface Rabbitfish
    2 x Gobies
    5 x Hermits
    1 x Cleaner Shrimp

    So i just finished biulding my under tank sump (70 x 30 x 30)cm and got a second hand 1.2m x 60cm x 45cm tank i want to move everything over too...

I need advise on the following:
Currenly have only crushed coral as substrate, but would like to have sand (got it from guy who brought back like 20kg from his last Beach Holiday).
Should i mix the crushed coral and the sand or just stick to one?

Should i attempt to have DSB in Display tank aswell?

The choice is yours if you want to have an in-tank DSB or not, personally I prefer just a 2 to 3 cm layer of substrate in the display tank with my DSB in the sump.

What size is the crushed coral?

Where did this guy collect the sand from? The dry beach or from under the water?

He probably got it from dry beach area, he used some of it(after washing) in his Freshwater tank as substrate.

Coral pieces differ from 2mm to 7cm finger looking bits.
Thought of crushing it more with hammer or something???Is that possible?

So went, home during lunch, and found a milky aquarium with my beloved nennie on the floor and the clowns all lost and stuff...
So ends the story of my first purple tip anemone:(

Sorry to hear, but nennies need a mature setup with stable parameters and strong lighting.

Well, that depends on how you do the tank move. If you move everything in the display from old tank to new tank in one big swap over. Then that is OK. Your liverock would loose minimal life. It is exactly the same as people moving house. But tank swap over is normally quicker done that taking everything in cooler boxes, pack up tank, drive to new location, and re-setup tank.

Problem comes in on your DSB. How do you move your filtration capabilities over. If you can, run both sumps in series for 2 months. Else do a proper seeding of new DSB from your old. So depends on what Landu did, I still doubt that the maturity of the tank is the problem. But 8 months is a tad too quick.

Other problems, like excess detritus in the water column due to the disturbance of the in tank substrate. Bigger tank - deeper tank, lights most likely to be not enough for the anemone. Possible using old tank skimmer that is too small on the new tank. Bigger tank, new extra water that was not almost same parameters as old tank water.

And I would get rid of that old 2mm to 70mm substrate. Detritus trap. Rather play sand (thin wallet) or aragonite (not a thick wallet anymore).

So Landu, you need to provide more detail.

Will update everything soon...i know i've been a bad boy, but finally got the tank i will love and cherish for quite a while.
Cube 800 x 600 x 600 (10mm glass), nice overflow at back end sump setup with big Berlin Skimmer, with new powerheads ext....

Looks awesome and parameters are looking good, just struggling with PO4 and NO2...too high.

Can't tell you how much this forum has helped
