    Hi All,

I've finally upgraded from my boyu TL-55 to a rimless 400L.

So excited, starting this from scratch and hopefully omit all mistakes if learn from before.

Just staring to fill her with RO water and synthetic salt (Aquamedic)

Could I please get some pointers for all you guys as to how to go along, best prices etc.

To start, I'm continuing with left over AQUAMEDIC salt, should I change the brand or continue with this brand in my new reef?

2nd question is to what/where to get good/recommended aragonite substrate ?

3rdly, do you know anyone selling FIGI LR, i was to go to LFS as a very last resort ;-)

    Your help very much appreciated.

Will give tank specs as we go along ...

Below are some pics but still very virgin :)

The most readily available aragonite in SA is Caribsea and its good. Some places have aquamedic which is cheaper :)

I'm using it, Blue Box. Cheaper than the buckets.

Although in the mixing drum, it does leave a settlement, like an old kettle.

Also, it does not make 1.025. 20kg makes 600L SW, so for 60L should use 2kg. Always at 1.022 to 1.023. But not anymore lately. Last 2 boxes did make 1.025 as it should.

Chin up bud .... get the mop out ... for mopping the floor now and later for hitting the supplier over the head ... There's always a positive to things .... Firstly be glad this happened now and not when fully stocked .... You also lucky the tank hasn't cycled as yet so .... Also you got tiles so better of than some chaps ..... Take plenty photo's and ask supplier what he's going to do to fix things .... This situation has the twist ..... Better now than later

It seems that somebody down in Cape Town must come up to Midrand for some basic tank building training.
Believe you will be sorted anyway. All guys who got pride in their work, would anyway.

Better now than in 2 or 3 weeks.

Well the only good that comes out of this is NEVER pay someone upfront before you see the product ?

A lesson learnt and life must go on !!!!
