That sounds like a awsome order, How much does a black tang go for ?
    Question :

Is the black tang a black yellow tang or a black scopa tang or is it a seperate speice ?

it is the true long nose black tang....not like the other hybrids you see sometimes in the market.
when taken out of the water one should be able to see the diff on the body

Old PE Boy, all are part of the Zebrasoma genus. Sold as a Z. rostratum, it would be a "true" black tang (limited to french polynesia ). mostly (and i am saying mostly with caution) the ones we get is Z Scopas

Difference is easier to see in adults as Z rostratum has a longer snout.

Think dewald was refering to Zebrasoma (sailfin) genus as a group.

But to try and answer the Q, yes they are different species, belonging to the same genus

Lanzo..apologies , we were posting at same time

Lanzo, and i ask this in a "I do not know" way. What does one look out for in distinguishing a rostratum.

LOL NJ, seems we have lots of time to mess / hang around on MASA :) What I know is that it should be about 1/3 of body length to qualify as Z rostratum ( I mean the snout / rostratus)

the way to know if it is a true rostratum is to stres(take the fish out of the water) the fish then look for scopas stripes
If it has scopas stripes it is a hybrid
If it is one color it is a true rostratum
