ok guys im a member of your exclusive club now !!!

ok sump is std 3 foot tank , i.e i think 300mm high. placed skimmer/pump on base. put pump on , water overflowed into cup. adjusted outlet height. didnt help much.

ok raised skimmer/pump. put skimmer on , adjusted outlet height , went to bed @ 10pm. awoke @ 12am checked on skimmer , only water in collection cup.
adjusted outlet height again , and went to bed, @ 4.30am found nothing in collection cup , not even some foam.

what am i doing wrong ??? any help setting this baby up. correct height out of water ???

Well, Afsal, the first thing you doing wrong is you are impatient... These skimmers take time to break in. Mine took a good few days

Push the outlet down as low as it can go. Switch on the skimmer. Then slowly extend it untilthe bubbles burst in the riser tube where the base of the cup is. In other words you can just see the bubble level when looking through the side of the cup. Let it run there for a couple of days. The every few days if you're not getting results, raise it a bit more. After a while you'll get a feel for it.

impatient - yes i am
i am so excited to see this baby in action. i had the am biostar flotor before this and I had this baby tuned finally and therefore was impatient to it work !!!

ok u say put the riser tube as low as it can go , ok i have raised the skimmer/pump a bit shud i put it back on the base of the sump ????

what size tank so do u have and how much skimmate per week shud i get ???

I would say I get about half a cup per week but remember my bio load is very low and I feed virtually nothing.

For the first two week or two when I had mine, I skimmed very wet and got a cup every two days or so with skimmate the same opacity as tea. No I get a think skimmate but takes a bit longer.

I don't know how high the skimmer must be Afsal, but I can tell you how mine is positioned. My skimmer is flat on the bottom glass of the sump, no stand or base that it rests on. The water level in my sump is just under halfway, that is about 40% up the main body of the skimmer without the cup. More or less.

Time Afsal, in time you will be taking out some lovely foul smelling shit.

I agree with Galibore raise the tube a bit every day until u get what u want

Yip Afsal a bit of patience is needed intially.

Did you sttrip the pump and clean it in warm water first as well as the skimmer body itself ?
Reason I'm asking is that when the skimmers come from the manufacturer they are still coated in oils and lubricants from the extrusion and manufacturing processes. These oils effect surface tension and take a few days to be washed away. Hence the break in period which we speak about. If you have not done this don't stress it won't do any harm, the skimmer will just need a few days to work it out.

Afsal it has took my RS2 a good couple of days to get going. Wait a week and as everyone else has been saying, raise the skimmer level gradually.

ok when raising skimmer , do u raise the outlet pipe or the skimmer itself ???

My RS2 has been in for 3 days now and is just coming into play. Looking good, skimmate a little wet at the moment, so I have lowered the outlet pipe a touch. As everybody has stated skimmers of any make take time to run in.

Take heart Afsal. This is my TS1 today. I emptied last week Wednesday.

THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST INVESTMENT I COULD HAVE MADE FOR MY NANO !!

O, and I double checked. My sump's water level is exactly halfway up the skimmer body.

Mmm... maybe Viper can help. I can see the pic just fine.

WORKING GREAT !! still fiddling with it a bit , adjusting height etc to get optimimim performance!!
