    Literally..

    Will it grow another one?

... or do I remove the tube?

I read somewhere that they can grow another.

How long will that take and when will I know if it should be removed?

They will loose their head when they're not happy. I suggest you take a look at flow and/or is it getting nutrients, etc. How long has it been in that spot? Something maybe not bothering it?

Got another one - he seems fine... Not feeding them anything - flow was quite high though... maybe I should move it to a quieter spot...

Was there for a about a month...

Might also be a fish or something harrasing it to the point were it will "throw" its head/fan away in an attempt to be left alone.Mine did that twice.Head grew back after say 2 - 3 weeks.
