    Hi everyone!
    I got myself a baby nemo from a pet shop a while ago, but the little fellow don't go deep in my 100litre tank, he just stays at the survace, what could be the problem? is it a problem?
    because he doesnt go down to the bottom swimming there like my other fish, he just stays up there.....
    he is very healthy that I can tell by his healthy appitite, always eating from my clean fingers, and nipping anything that goes in the tank that looks like he can eat it, like a net for instance. haha, he is very cute, but I don't know why he just stays up there by the inlet pipe, coming into the main tank, from the DSB.

    @Krappie,
    Yes, clowns do all sorts of "unnatural"things (in our eyes) but for some fish, it is quite normal...
    My clowns are always at the surface, by the overflow. And will occasionally come to the front where the one will promptly turn up-side down. :)
    As @dallasg mentioned, post a pic,
    But if it is healthy, eating and does not show any signs of distress, I would not loose any sleep over it :)

    Mine also user to always swim in the upper half of my tank till i put in the first anemone... Now the never go higher than halfway, lol. @dallasg has a point, they tend to do strange things sometimes.
    Before i got the amenone, the one clown would intentionally sometimes swim over the overflow & id have to go fishing!

    Clowns do seem to like the top half of tanks and specialy the corners of tanks, I find this when there is nothing which simulates there natural environment. Or there is another clown which takes over anything which resembles a natural environment. So if you are ready for it try a bubble tip nennie or a medium size frogspawn,hammer or tourch coral and see what happens.

    i think Clown fish get their name not only because of the way they look but also because of their behavior. as for swimming close to the surface of the water my guess is that its still getting used to his/hers environment and might be a bit scared. you could get him a torch or hammer or frogs pawn coral for him to host in but the other thing i would do is to get him a partner. Clowns live in pairs and are mates for life so perhaps hes just feeling scared and lonely in the tank

    Yellow tail damsel are very territorial and it might be bullying your clown. Keep a close watch.
