My mate has a nano about 60L with:
    7kg kg LR
Ceramic rings - yes yes we know but its doing its job and the water is prefiltered before the rings
40W of t8 lights different coloured bulbs
is using the "bad batch" of RO salt of whicj he changes 15L a week
fish - Goby, Maroon clown and a twin spot coris - He did not listen to me whan i advised him on stocking options.
    Boxer shrimp and blue lobster
Big Bristle star fish - that black type one
    No skimmer
a small seio prop for flow and the flow from the internal filter

    Heres the catch
Everything in his tank is Thriving. His Musrooms are going wild and his xeniaz are spreading. All the mushrooms in his tank are splitting and multiplying like crazy. Mushrooms that i got for both of us have split in his tank and not in mine

Compared to me my sps are growing wild but my shrooms are no where near his in terms of reproduction damn i did not even have 1 split as yet even through i have a much bigger setup, using better salt and have a great skimmer and more light.

Could it be that mushrooms do better in less light, flow and nutriet rich water?

Ziyaad IMHO your conclusion is correct, Mushrooms do better in higher nutrient levels (look at NPS tanks...they incorporate shrooms to assist in filter feeding because of the massive feeding regime they have to follow)

Less flow & light is also more conductive to keepuing shrooms & most softies (Xenia might actually stop pulsing if in to much flow, no need to "hunt" for its food as the water collum moves it around enough) ....My 2C

just one Q bud. when you feed your fish, do you still have flow in your tank? i think it may be the flow that "blows" the food of the shroom, thus the shroom not being able to feed on food that may settle on it.

Shrooms don't need to be fed they can live 100% of their bacteria.

that may be so, but they do eat food if fed. so i assume that would help with growth and propogation. surely there must be a benafit to them eating food.
