What's the furthest you have travelled to buy/acquire something specifically for your marine tank?

And does your wife/significant other/partner/family think you're crazy for doing so?

I've probably done a maximum round trip of about 100km which isn't too far. And yes, my partner thinks I'm crazy/obsessed.

Don't worry I'm from middelburg. I must travel +-160km every time I need something. It's ashame we don't have Lps that supply marine products. But still enjoying te hobby! :)

The great thing about cabinets is that you can sneak stuff into them so they don't need to see it. And if they do you always understate the cost of the item.

all you say is that the item was marked down by 50% or you got it free :whistling:

I don't envy guys and girls who have travel far to get to a LFS.

With the price of petrol it can really be a costly exercise.

I bought a chiller and hid it behind my tank cabinet. It's not exactly small either :D

Does that mean you will leave your wife/partner at home when you attend AquariumExpo2012

Me and @henry888 will sometimes do a Sponsor run, start at Lifestyle Pet hyper, then Moolis, Dorry's, Idol, Wild on Pets, Exotics in Boksburg and then sometimes the LFS @ sterlig and hillfox.

I wish I could say the fuel is the expensive part... but its not.

When my new chiller appeared next to my garage nano, I told the wife it was a filter that had previously been hiding in the cupboard of my old tank.

The "big city" guys are quite lucky... I travel between Potch & Pta and NEVER return emptyhanded!!

Always that something that was " a perfect match" to the rest of the tank inhabitants. But a nano can only handle that much!

It just suck when equipment packs up & I cannot find replacements...:( have to wait for the next trip up to Pta.. Sigh.

I traveled to Jhb to collect my tank. Also did alot of LFS in the area for other bits and pieces. Went through natal, that must have been 2700 km.

Also traveled to Pmb to pick up my light unit in another trip from Tobes.

Now I just courier what I want.

    I think I am mad.
