    Hi everyone.

    Cornè from Wilgeheuwel JHB. :wave2:
I'm completely new to the marine hobby.
I have some experience with freshwater aquariums.
Recently purchased a new Powerlab aquarium, but still waiting for delivery - will send pics when received.
Saw a realy cool nano tank and wanted to get one, but luckily I did some reading and the general consensus was ... not for beginners.
I decided to go for a 240L with 30L sump.
Will do my best to take it nice and slow with the setup and stocking.:swim:

Massive amounts of info on the forum so i will keep myself busy with this durring the wait .

    Cheers :peroni::peroni:

    Hi Corne

    Welcome to MASA!
    I am from Wilgeheuwel too:cheers2:
I too was into freshwater years ago and started my first nano about 6 months ago. Was also intimidated by "saltwater is not for beginners" but it is really not that bad and I think I'm doing pretty well so far. Plenty of help and info available here. Look forward to seeing your tank progress.

you might need to add di resin chamber to get tds to 0. but maybe first try and make some water and see what tds is.

    Tested my tap water 74ppm.
Then first 2 Liters out of RO were 147ppm... obv needed to run a few liters first.
Then tested after about 10 Liters and the ppm now reads a constant 4ppm. Is this ok for aquarium use? Or does it have to be zero.

4 is not bad but we aim to be as low as possible.

I get zero on my unit (Waterboy). Try run it slower.... i.e. don't open the tap 100%

Also get zero but i read that anything up to 7 is acceptable. You can consider adding a deionisation filter to the RO unit, might do the trick?

    Update:
I have returned my 3 stage RO unit, it started leaking in between 1st and 2nd stage.
Purchased a waterboy 4 stage unit from Marco.
Paid for it yesterday and received a message today that its allready on its way to jhb from KZN. Screenshot_20180207-125857.png

Great choice. Many of us have that same unit. Mine is still going strong after 8 years. And Marco's service is always excellent.
