Well as the title states, im looking for a coral for my clowns to host in, or attempt to host in.

Any ideas, i think an anemone is going to be way to hard for me to keep alive.

They euhpyllias (frogspawn, torch, hammer) and also bubble, fox etc are often hosted by clowns - but this can be to their detriment. The clowns are quite rough with their hosts - they rub and dig into them. With these LPS corals it often ends up pushing the soft tissue of the polyps up against the sharp coral skeleton, damaging it.

So I would not recommend them as hosts - unless they are very large specimens, and the clowns are very small. Even then, I would still not try put the two together.

A leather like a pincushion might be better - or even pulsing xenia. My clowns host my pulsing xenia and I absolutely love it. The xenia is hardy, attractive and has now adjusted completely to the inhabitants - the clowns dig right in. :)

I have allot of pulsing Xenia and also frogspawn. I wanted to add a clown fish but also had concerns. Hopefully the clown will dig the xenia more than my frogspawn

Have 4 clowns in the system and all have hosted in the Frogspawn corals for the past few years and so far no problems with them damaging the corals.

Nice to hear of larger colonies of euphyllia taking the clowns abuse :) I've always loved the look of clowns in a frogspawn. Maybe when mine grows up they'll switch!
