I've been stung a few times in the past by corals. Besides the slight stinging pain nothing ever happened

And why did the hand go into the tank unprotected?

Just watch yourself, usually you won't have any problems other than a sting on the hand, HOWEVER if you are not feeling well, this may be a sign that you may be more susceptible to some sort of a reaction.

I had a similar reaction to a blue bottle sting, never had any problems before when i had been stung, however the last time I got stung I went into anaphylactic shock. Not nice!

    Sorry to hear Shaun.

@Nemos Janitor - i am new to the reef keeping, my tank is busy cycling so i am still learning alot. just a quick question, what would one use for protection when handling corals? also do you get whatever it is for protection from the local pet shop?

    Thanks.

best are powder free latex gloves. You can get them from the chemist. If you have latex allergies, then get the nitrile gloves (they a littel more expensive than the latex ones).

Thanks guys. Will try the latex.

@Shaun, true. I am sure if you look around maybe you can find shoulder lenth latex gloves. I think they use them for vetenary purposes especially for horses. but not 100% sure.
