Taod stools sulk. It might take a few days for it to open properly. As long as your water parameters are in check, then it should open soon. They are excellent beginner corals. They are pretty bulletproof.

@SliverZA - Three to four weeks is a bit long to not open. Has it opened at all in that time?

Apparently it can take time. They retract to clean themselves and shed the top layer of their skin.

Even though mine is closed I know it's doing ok'ish because it moves quite a bit. In the morning it is slumped to one side facing the light coming in from a window, when my tank lights come on it moves up straight again. I also see the head changing shape and size during the course of the day but still no polyp extension :(

    Here's a pic of mine.

Parameters are fine. Its only been a day, nothing to worry about.
How high up is it in your tank? What flow is it under?

It's never fully opened, every now and then I see one or two polyps coming out.

Does it ever have any polyp extension?
Is there not something in the tank harrassing it? Like the hawkfish?
Pehaps try moving it to a different spot in the tank.

I sometimes see 1 or 2 polyps starting to come out but never fully extended

The hawk fish does sit on it every now and then but I wouldn't say he was harrassing it.

This is the second spot I've had it in, can you suggest where else I can try placing it? (it was previously at the top in the middle)

@SliverZA - how long ago did you move it?

@mandrin - if poyps are already stsarting to extend, then it should open fully in soon.

Looking at the picture..it seems its two? Or has some line done the middle of its base?
Check to see if it doesnt have nudis or flatworms or some other critter crawling on it.
The other corals in your tank all look healthy.

Give it a few days. Im sure its fine. Corals can take a whiel to get used to their new home. Dont stress too much about it, toadstools are hardy but do tend to sulk and scare their owners. Post a pic of it if you can.

It's just one, there is a groove in the middle but it's all one piece. I've been taking a close look at it every day to see if I can spot any PE and I haven't noticed anything on it.

Everything else is doing great, just a cyano issue that is bothering my yellow polyps at the moment.

I hope it comes right soon.

in the FTS i notice the pump is directly pointed at it, maybe position the pump differerently for a while. also could it be that it is splitting coz of stress? do you dose iodine?
