    Hi All,

This morning I noticed thousands of tiny white bugs moving around in the water and on the inside of my glass. I took this pic with a macro lens so hopefully it is good enough for ID. Any idea what this is and if it is good or bad for fish, inverts and the likes.

When I switched to an led light a swarm appeared right at the top of the water where the light was brightest. Only happened the first time. I guess they all got eaten by the fish. Just not sure what they were swarming for in relation to the led light.

Thanks for the info guys. Don't have too many fish in my tank so hopefully they stick around for a bit. I do see them eating them from time to time. Was just worried that it could be a parasite !

They are attracted to light the same way moths are..When i lived in the eastern cape we always used to fish at night under the lights. lights attract the "pods" , pods attract the little fish and the crustaceans, attract the large fish.

Yeah we do it by my friend's houseboat in langebaan. Cool to watch pods appear, then bigger bugs until cuttlefish/fish come along then eventually sharks. Its like watching the food chain lol.

Was just odd that they swarmed under the led light. I had a mh on and as soon as I switched it they appeared. Strange that there is something in the led they liked that was not in the mh spectrum.
